Elizabeth Freeman

Elizabeth Freeman retired from her position as Managing Director and Senior Counsel at BNY Mellon where she specialized in investment company and securities law relating to the operation of third party mutual fund clients. Prior to BNY Mellon she held positions as Vice President and Counsel at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., PFPC, Inc., and The Boston Company. Elizabeth started her career as an associate at Palmer & Dodge (now Locke Lord) and was a law clerk to Chief Justice David Brock of the New Hampshire Supreme Court (1988-1989). She is a graduate of Boston College Law School and Boston College.

As an Access to Justice Fellow, Elizabeth will be working with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND). KIND serves as the leading organization for the protection of unaccompanied children who enter the US immigration system alone and strives to ensure that no child appears in immigration court without representation. Elizabeth will be assisting KIND staff attorneys in their representation of child clients in their immigration proceedings and helping to coordinate a mentoring program to provide ongoing social service support for current and past clients.
